The Lab, Auckland Art Gallery
Executive Director of Artspace, Sydney based Blair French discusses issues associated with realising public art projects within an urban environment under stress from dramatic change and extreme uncertainty. Drawing on the experience of working with SCAPE Public Art in Christchurch over the past four years, this talk will focus in particular upon the work of Mexican artist/architect Héctor Zamora and the Gardensity collaboration between artist Ash Keating and architect Dorian Farr a work conceived pre-Christchurch earthquakes that set out to both posit a new architectural future for the city whilst critically mimicking the PR conventions of property development.
